| There is not a time of year that I loath more then summer time. I hate the heat. It makes me miserable. I hate sitting or standing, doing nothing and sweating. You can't sleep because it is too hot, you can't breath because it is too smoggy. You can't even open up the windows to get a breeze as the humdex is to high and it would do nothing anyways.
If given the opportunity to live in 30 or -30 degree weather I would say where is my toque?
Fuck you summer! | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| The Canadians have a weird obsession with weather. We love to talk, well bitch about it really. In the winter if it gets to 0 we start to weat t-shirts. after all its patio weather!
In the summer when it gets down to 12 degrees we complain that its freezing and put on extra layers.
Even so I would rather 12 degrees in the summer then 30, with a smog alert and a high UV index.
Really, I have a weather tag, how sad am I? | comments: Leave a comment |
| | I am thoroughly enjoying todays weather. It is a large improvement over the mother fucking hot stuff we had on the weekend. If it were 2 degrees warmer and sunny that would be the world would be a happy place for me in the summer! | comments: Leave a comment |
| I think that I am allergic to fresh air and sunshine!
Went tree planting and came back and was knackered. I will blame the sun! | comments: Leave a comment |
| It is only the begining of may and it is already smoggy.
The summer is starting to look painful! | comments: Leave a comment |
| I have just caught up on sleep now. I spent the weekend at camp at the Wye Marsh with the youngins.
Its funny, just as we were pulling out of the city, I asked the rhetorical question of I don't need my winter sleeping bag do I? Nah, I will be fine with my summer one.
fast forward to Friday night, the temp hovering about 2-3 degrees. In my little tent with my new self inflating sleeping pad and my summer bag which consists of a peice of polar fleece in a peice of nylon. Therefore no loft.
I decided to give up on sleep at 330 when I was just too cold. My mildly hypothermic brain and I decided that standing in front of the wood fire in the kitchen building was a very good idea.
I called one of the beaver dads at 6 that morning to ask if he would please bring up my winter sleeping bag, he agreed, then I called my mom to ask her to please leave it on the front porch.
Saturday night hovered at about the same temp. I crawled into my very nice and warm winter, down filled warm, ahhhhh sleeping bag. Then I remembered something. The self inflating air matterses allow air under you, therefore it is cold. Grumbling at myself, I got back up again, went to the kitchen building, got cardboard, put cardboard on airmattress and fell asleep.
The moral of the story is "if in doubt bring your winter bag and a blue foamy" | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
